The United Way of Marion County celebrated a successful campaign year with their Campaign Celebration and Annual Meeting on January 23, 2018 at Mon Power Headquarters. The campaign raised over $442,539 to help support our local community, surpassing the goal by over $22,000.
Mon Power took the top honor of the event with the “Best of the Best” Award. They set a new record raising over $155,714. Fairmont Regional Medical Center raised $13,185 during their campaign and Fairmont State University raised over $15,000 from their faculty and staff. Fairmont Federal Credit Union raised $7,861 and was recognized with the Growth Award.
Donna Wilson of Fairmont Regional Medical Center was recognized as the Outstanding Employee Coordinator. Brett White received the President’s Award for his dedication to the agency and Blaire Nuzum-Wise was recognized with the Chairman’s Award for her support and hard work during the fundraising campaign.
Attendees thanked Mike Angelucci for his leadership of the 2018 campaign and presented him with a special plaque to commemorate his year as Chair. Angelucci thanked the group during his last official duty and passed the torch to the 2019 campaign chair, Tina Shaw, President of the Marion County Chamber of Commerce.
During the Annual Meeting portion of the event, Holly Kauffman, outgoing Board President shared highlights from the past year and attendees were walked through the 2017 annual report.
Four individuals were elected to the United Way Board of Directors. Dr. Mirta Martin, David Nuzum, Tina Shaw, and Daniel Quance will join the board as the newest Directors. Devanna Corley of The Thrasher Group takes over as President and Sally Morgan of Marion County Schools will be serving as Vice President.
The funding from the annual campaign helps support 24 programs at 18 health and human service agencies in Marion County.
