AREA COUNTIES HAVE BEEN AWARDED FEDERAL FUNDS MADE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY (DHS)/FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY UNDER THE EMERGENCY FOOD AND SHELTER NATIONAL BOARD PROGRAM.
The following have been chosen to receive funding to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in their respective counties through the ARPA-R phase of the program.
- Marion County: $35,000
- Taylor County: $16,407
- Tucker County: $5,000
- Randolph County: $31,124
The following have been chosen to receive funding to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in their respective counties through Phase 39 of the program.
- Marion County: $9,200
- Taylor County: $5,308
- Tucker County: $2,800
- Randolph County: $10,070
The selection was made by a National Board that is chaired by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and consists of representatives from The Salvation Army; American Red Cross; Jewish Communities; Catholic Charities, USA; National Council of Churches of Christ in the U.S.A.; and, the United Way of America. The Local Board is charged to distribute funds appropriated by Congress to help expand the capacity of food and shelter programs in high-need areas around the county.
Agencies interested in applying for either or both phases should visit the United Way website at http://tvuw.us/efsp. All applications are due by 5:00pm on Tuesday, March 15, 2022. Agencies do not have to be a United Way agency to apply.
