The Falcon Center on the campus of Fairmont State University served as the location for the United Way’s annual Leadership Breakfast on Tuesday, August 6th from 8:00am – 9:00am. Over 125 local business and community leaders from Marion and Taylor counties joined the United Way staff to have breakfast and to hear about this year’s first combined United Way campaign.
This breakfast is an annual summer event that precedes the kick-off of the fall United Way Campaign. It is sponsored and hosted by Fairmont State University.
Bringing together those in a position to affect the direction and future of our region, the Leadership Breakfast allows the United Way to present an overview of community needs and the role that businesses and individuals can fill in meeting those needs.
Tim Koenig, who was recently name the Men’s Basketball Coach at Fairmont State University, served as the keynote speaker. He shared his views on community involvement and his outlook for Fairmont State Basketball.
Those attending received an advance look at the 2020 Campaign that will kick-off on September 3rd. Patrick and Amy Snively, both of Fairmont State University, led the event as the new Campaign Chairs and announced the campaign goal of $500,000.
Brett White, Executive Director, unveiled the media partners and the 2020 campaign theme, “Better Together” and led the first viewing of the new United Way Campaign Video, produced by Mountain Craft Productions.
The dollars raised through the annual United Way fundraising campaign provides funding to support 33 programs at 26 local health and human service agencies in Marion and Taylor counties. For more information on United Way, visit www.unitedwaymtc.org.
