Over 30 United Way volunteers, representing 14 local companies and organizations, gathered Thursday afternoon at the Disability Action Center to track the annual campaign progress. After all volunteers reported, United Way campaign results totaled $273,748 or 55% of the $500,000 goal for Marion and Taylor counties.
Mon Power, the campaign’s largest workplace donor, has wrapped up their campaign and are calculating their results.
Fairmont State University reported over $17,776 raised so far, including over $2,500 from the second annual Maroon Madness t-shirt sales by the Student Government Association. They SGA sold over 550 shirts to raise dollars for United Way.
Fairmont Regional Medical Center has raised over $3,000 so far and UPS reported over $15,773 raised from their employees, making it their largest campaign to date.
A few other companies reporting were Christ Episcopal Church with a gift of $10,000, Marion County Schools with over $5,171 raised, Small Businesses and Corporate donations totally over $15,250, and United Way Agencies at over $7,000 collectively.
United Way also shared the results from recent special events, including Dancing with the Stars, which raised over $30,000 for the campaign, Empty Bowls at $6,000, and the Mon Power Golf Outing, which raised $5,000.
The event served as the halfway point for the annual fundraising drive. It was sponsored by Pickering Associates. Campaign Chairs Patrick and Amy Snively tallied results and announced the current total.
The Campaign Celebration is scheduled for January 16th at Noon. It will be held at the Robert Mollohan Center and is sponsored by Mon Power.
